Vellore is well-known for being the travel center for explorers. Popular as the ” Fort City” of Tamil Nadu, it has an unbelievable past with an inculpable combination of heritage and the Eternal legacy of the early Dravidian civilization. The name Vellore as well denotes a City of Spears. The town reflects an enhancing heritage of the early Dravidian culture. This place has been ruled by the Pallavas, Cholas, Vijayanagara Empire, Rashtrakutas, Carnatic kingdom and the British.
The town has numerous historic and religious attractions. The well-known Sripuram Sri Lakshmi Golden Temple is located close to Vellore. It has the most fascinating Fort in the town totally made from granite stone. The Fort may have been erected during the reign of Chinna Bommi Nayak (1526 to 1595 AD). The Fort is one of the best examples of Military architecture in South India.

- By Rail: The town has 3 main Railway stations: the major one is Vellore-Katpadi, the second one is Vellore-Cantonment in Suriyakulam which is only 8 km away from Katpadi Junction, and a third one and smallest is Vellore Town station and its is connect with other Katpadi and Villupuram Junction..
- By Road: Vellore is well connected with the major cities via road of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. So tourist can get buses and cabs from major cities from these three states to reach here.
