Tirunelveli is a city placed on the edges of the river Thamirabarani in Tamil Nadu. Also acknowledged as Nellai, it is the supervisory HO of the Tirunelveli area and the sixth-largest city of Tamil Nadu state. It is portrayed as a microcosm of the state. Tirunelveli is situated near the southern tip of India and is exceptionally famous for its different geographic characteristics. It involves 5 geographical regions that incorporate mountains, jungles, paddy fields, seaside, and deserts.

The name Tirunelveli is obtained from three Tamil words, Thiru, nel and veli, signifying ‘pious paddy fence’. It is considered to be a historic city. This town was before the capital of the Pandyas and it has a history that drives back 2000 years. This place is been ruled by diverse periods the Early Pandyas, the Medieval and Later Cholas, the later Pandyas, the Malabar and Tirunelveli Sultanates, the Vijayanagara Empire, the Madurai Nayaks, the Carnatic kingdom and the British. The city has a rich cultural and architectural heritage, which lures the tourist to visit this place once if they visit Tamil Nadu.
