Srinagar is the mid-year capital of Jammu and Kashmir. It is arranged in the Kashmir Valley and lies on the banks of the Jhelum River, a tributary of the Indus. The city is popular for its nurseries, lakes, and houseboats. Srinagar is one of a few places that have been known as the “Venice of the East”.Lakes around the city incorporate Dal Lake – noted for its houseboats – and Nigeen Lake. Aside from Dal Lake and Nigeen Lake, Wular Lake and Manasbal Lake both lie toward the north of Srinagar. Wular Lake is one of the biggest freshwater lakes in Asia.

Srinagar has some Mughal gardens, shaping a piece of those laid by the Mughal sovereigns over the Indian subcontinent. Those of Srinagar and its nearby region incorporate Chashma Shahi (the illustrious wellsprings); Pari Mahal (the castle of the pixies); Nishat Bagh (the nursery of spring); Shalimar Bagh; the Naseem Bagh. Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Botanical Garden is a professional flowerbed in the city, set up in 1969.   • By Air: Named Sheik ul Alam Airport, Srinagar Airport is a universal air terminal. This air terminal is very much associated and aircraft offer standard flights from Srinagar to Delhi, Mumbai and Chandigarh. The air terminal is put only 15 km away from the focal point of the city.
