Kullu, also called the ‘Valley of Gods’, is a scenic region in the state of Himachal Pradesh. The valley received its alias due to the notion that it had once been home to various Hindu Gods, Goddesses, and pious souls. Located at an altitude of 1230 m, on the shore of the Beas river, it is also known for its spectacular natural environment. Initially known as ‘Kul-ani – peetha’, which signifies ‘the most distant purpose of the livable world’, Kullu again referred in great Indian legends like the Mahabharata, the Ramayana and also the Vishnu Purana. Established by a local of Tripura known as Behangamani Pal, the history of this lovely hill station in the 1st century.

It is said that the district was difficult to reach until India gets its freedom in 1947. This wonderful summer spot is surrounded by erect hills, Pine forest, rivers, and apple plantations and is very much popular in between tourist from the all around the world for its natural luster. Aside from this, Kullu is also well known for its old forts, religious destinations, Wildlife Sanctuaries, and dams.

  • By Air: Nearest airport to Kullu is the Bhuntar airport which is 10 km away from Kullu. This airport is well connected with cities such as Delhi, Pathankot, Chandigarh, and Shimla. Air India runs flights for here which actually irregular and very much expensive. Thus if tourist looking for airports which are close by then New Delhi (International airport) and Chandigarh (Domestic Airport) to Kullu.
  • By Rail: Closest railway station is Joginder Nagar railway station which is 124 km but this railway station doesn’t receive many trains on a regular basis. All the trains arrive here from Chandigarh. So major nearest railway station is Chandigarh railway station which is 270 km from Kullu.   
  • By Road: Most convenient way to reach Kullu is via road, Kullu is well connected with nearest destinations via state transport buses. Tourist can take deluxe or luxuries buses, also hire Taxies or cabs from Delhi, Pathankot, and Chandigarh too. Tourist can also enjoy the scenery of surroundings during traveling to Kullu via road.
