Kangra is a tourist spot situated at the gathering point of the Manjhi and Bener rivers in Himachal Pradesh. Located in the Kangra Valley between Dhauladhar Range and Shivalik Range, this city ignores the Banganga river. It is also known as Devbhumi, which implies the ‘Dwelling of the God’. As indicated by the Vedas, varied non-Aryan tribal communities lived here before the advent of the Aryans. In the great Indian epic Mahabharata, Kangra is mentioned as the Trigarta Kingdom. The city has various ancient Hindu temple which was destroyed due to an earthquake in 1905. After that, the city developed well and nowadays it becomes one of the favorite places to visit in Himachal Pradesh by Tourist.

The city of Kangra went under the lead of the Muslims after it was attacked by Mohammed Ghazni in the 10th century. After that city went under the rule of the Katoch Dynasty, the oldest survived clan. After the end of the First Anglo-Sikh War, Kangra was controlled by the British. This place is for the tourist who loves nature and historical places, this city has both of the place in one place.

  • By Air: City has its own airport which is only 12 km away. There are no regular flights are run here, few runs as per weather conditions. Closest International airport for foreign travelers is New Delhi airport to visit Dharamshala..
  • By Rail: Nearest railway station is Pathankot railway station which major station which is well connected with the major cities of the country and its located at 87 km from Kangra.   
  • By Road: Various state Transport and Public buses run on a regular basis and tourist can also hire taxis from Dharamshala, Palampur, Jammu, Amritsar, and Chandigarh.
