Kangra is a tourist spot situated at the gathering point of the Manjhi and Bener rivers in Himachal Pradesh. Located in the Kangra Valley between Dhauladhar Range and Shivalik Range, this city ignores the Banganga river. It is also known as Devbhumi, which implies the ‘Dwelling of the God’. As indicated by the Vedas, varied non-Aryan tribal communities lived here before the advent of the Aryans. In the great Indian epic Mahabharata, Kangra is mentioned as the Trigarta Kingdom. The city has various ancient Hindu temple which was destroyed due to an earthquake in 1905. After that, the city developed well and nowadays it becomes one of the favorite places to visit in Himachal Pradesh by Tourist.
The city of Kangra went under the lead of the Muslims after it was attacked by Mohammed Ghazni in the 10th century. After that city went under the rule of the Katoch Dynasty, the oldest survived clan. After the end of the First Anglo-Sikh War, Kangra was controlled by the British.
